Not only the halloween costumes and halloween decorations were fun, but always you have to see what creepy, ooky, or just plain visually disgusting party food that you can make that still tastes yummy. Everyone might think that it goes with the spirit of Halloween as a holiday, but unfortunately not everyone shares your die-hard enthusiasm. Most of the friends can't get past the visuals to find out that what you have made really does taste good, but you can give credit that at least most of them give my eerie eats a try. Halloween is that time of the year that's absolutely freakish and screamingly fun. A time when the line between the world of the living and the world of the dead is the thinnest and you're sure to feel the freak and scare with ghosts, goblins, witches and werewolves prowling all around.

The popular tradition of trick-or-treating on Halloween came from the Irish. This had been 'gifted' to the United States by the Irish immigrants who fled their country during the potato famine. The Irish celebration of Halloween or the Hallow E'en, as it's called in Ireland, means All Hallows Eve, or the night before the 'All Hallows'. All Hallows Day is on November 1, and is also known as All Saint's Day. November 2 is the All Soul's Day-a day which honors all Christians who no longer live and were not saints. Now, on All Hallows Eve or Halloween, the Irish beggars went asking for food or money from the rich. If refused, they were threatened to be destroyed by the evil spirits. And, nobody wants to take a chance on Halloween. So soul-cakes or currant buns and candy bags chockablock with goodies were kept ready for the Halloween Day. A Halloween cake is not only the perfect dessert for any Halloween party and a must have for someone with a birthday on or around October 31st, but also makes a great center piece for your food table if you are throwing any type of Halloween party.

The main concern every Halloween, pre-darkness-falling, has always been getting real food down my kid's throats before the big sugar OD and got out of the way to make something for dinner that is healthy but kid-appealing. The rule in this house is they absolutely have to eat no less than half a plate of solid food before we hit the streets. Well, try to stop them from consuming massive amounts of gut rotting, tooth gnashing, artificially colored food substances but its just no fun if a grown-up is hampering their joy at every turn. Halloween is their turn to party down, HARD. Unless they are diabetic, let them go a little crazy. They will be less likely to crave candy forever after if you let them get a little sick of it once or twice a year. But believe truly that if you hamper their simple go a little nuts. They will be easier going individuals and they will love you more.
